Pegasus crossing campaign – update

Taylor Wimpey considering Pegasus crossing request

Taylor Wimpey is planning to build 111 houses next to Saltburn Riding School so Saltburn and District Bridleways Group is calling for a Pegasus crossing to be installed on Marske Road.

The group has the support of the Roads Policing Unit, the BHS and Redcar and Cleveland Council’s highways department who have all joined us in approaching Taylor Wimpey to ask them to consider including a crossing as part of the development plans.

Thank you to everyone who wrote to Taylor Wimpey. They have now said they are considering the request.

Their official reply to SADBG stated: “The outline planning permission for land south of Marske Road, Saltburn, does not require a Pegasus crossing. The matter has however been raised informally by the council’s highways department and Taylor Wimpey are currently considering this request.”

Committee member Emma Thompson said: “Building 111 houses will increase the traffic on this already busy road that horse riders, pedestrians and cyclists are already struggling to cross safely.

“Please contact Taylor Wimpey and let them know that they cannot profit from our community, compromise our safety and then not put something back in to the community. Please help make our community safer.”
